GAIA - the word coined by Professor James Lovelock to describe our planet Earth as a self regulating organism that maintains ‘homeostasis’…the constant creation of conditions that are most conducive for life to flourish.

In an analogous way, ‘Biological Agriculture’, is a system of farming that aims to create natural conditions that are most conducive (and efficient) for crops and livestock to flourish.

The fundamental principles of ‘biological agriculture’ incorporate the science and management of the ‘microbial and living’ component of the soil in relationship with the chemistry, nutritional and structural (physical) components of soil fertility. Biological farming is a holistic and functional combination of the natural sciences...chemistry, physics, microbiology & ecology.

The goal of biological agriculture is to understand and manage this ‘living’ component of the soil, and in so doing positively influence crop production efficiencies.

In a broader context, the goals of biological agriculture strive to create growing systems and technologies that reduce the environmental impact of modern agricultural systems, and improve farming economics, enjoyment, freedom & day to day profession satisfaction.
